FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Two GPO Executives Join HIGPA's Board of Directors Arlington, VA (March 4, 2003) - The Health Industry Group Purchasing Association (HIGPA) is pleased to announce that two new group purchasing organization (GPO) executives-Jeffrey W Maysent, general counsel for Premier and Andrew Janover, senior vice president of operations for JPC-have been appointed to HIGPA's Boards of Directors. Both Mr. Maysent and Mr. Janover are filling positions left vacant after recent resignations. Jeffrey W Maysent's appointment to the HIGPA Board was due to Howard Sanders resignation as Premier's senior vice president of contracting services. Mr. Janover was appointed to the HIGPA Board following Ralph Dean's departure from JPC. Both Board positions were company specific so therefore Premier and JPC appointed a new representative to the HIGPA Board. "HIGPA welcomes the recent appointments of Jeff and Andrew to the Board. Both are leaders in the group purchasing industry and key supporters of HIGPA," said HIGPA President and CEO Robert Betz, Ph.D. Jeffrey W (Jeff) Maysent is senior vice president and general counsel of Premier, Inc., a nationwide alliance of not-for-profit hospitals and health systems, which provides group purchasing and other resources for its members. Mr. Maysent provides legal counsel for Premier, manages legal services from external firms Premier uses for specialized expertise and particular functions, has executive accountability for the alliance's member insurance programs, and serves as the Premier executive team member accountable for ethics and compliance. "I look forward to working with HIGPA's staff and other Board members in advancing the organization's purposes, demonstrating the value of group purchasing, and sustaining high standards of ethical and operational excellence," Mr. Maysent said. Andrew Janover has more than 30 years experience in operations management and is responsible for all contract operations with the exception of pharmacy for JPC. He served on the JPC Board of Directors for 30 years and as Chairman for the last ten years until accepting his current position with the company. "I am pleased to be a part of the HIGPA Board of Directors," said Janover. "I am looking forward to working with the Association and my fellow board members to help bring about positive changes in the industry that will benefit the health care markets we serve."
