HIGPA Announces New International Educational Conference:
The Global Summit on Health Care Purchasing & Supply
    May 6 - 7, 2002
    Amsterdam, Netherlands

WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 26, 2001) - The Health Industry Group Purchasing Association is pleased to announce the inaugural Global Summit on Health Care Purchasing & Supply conference, to be held May 6 - 7, 2002 at the Grand Amsterdam Hotel in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

The Global Summit will allow both U.S. and international health care supply chain executives to learn about the intricacies of various health care systems, explore potential business relationships, and network with each other on a global level. Among the individuals helping to plan this event are conference steering committee chairman Eric Jackson, Director of E-Commerce at the NHS Purchasing and Supply Agency (Great Britain); Todd Ebert, Executive Vice President at AmeriNet, Inc. (United States); Moshe Modai, President & CEO at SAREL Supplies & Services for Medicine, Ltd. (Israel); and Allan Fine, Vice President at CHPS Consulting (United States).

"HIGPA is excited about the opportunities the Global Summit on Health Care Purchasing & Supply will offer U.S. and international health care purchasers, suppliers, distributors and others. This event will afford a wide variety of organizations the ability to learn about health care supply chain experiences of others and explore potentially innovative business arrangements," said HIGPA President & CEO Robert Betz, Ph.D. "The support for this conference from both U.S. and foreign-based organizations indicates to me that this will become a must-attend conference as Western economies continue to meet global challenges."

In addition to the Global Summit in May of 2002, HIGPA is also planning the following other educational and networking events:

    • 2001 International EXPO: Oct. 15 - 17, Palm Desert, CA. With EXPO less than one month until the 6th annual EXPO, HIGPA is expecting another solid conference, with an impressive list of speakers, attendees and registrants.
    • 2002 National Pharmacy Forum: Feb. 20 - 22, New Orleans, LA.
    • 2002 Medical Technologies Forum: June 3 - 5, Key Biscayne, FL.
