Kasich Inspires Health Care Executives to Make a Difference

WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 24, 2001) - Former U.S. Congressman John Kasich informed senior health care executives at the Health Industry Group Purchasing Association's 2001 International EXPO to raise the bar and provide inspirational leadership to make a difference. Kasich spoke on October 16 during the Second General Session, sponsored by Pharmacia.

Since leaving Congress, Kasich has served as chairman of the NEW CENTURY PROJECT, an organization dedicated to fostering new and innovative thinking about government and America's future. Kasich's presentation could not have come at a better time. He cited stories about everyday American heroes and the gifts that they have given to others.

"There is a legacy laid out for all of us to follow," said the former chairman of the House Budget Committee and one of the primary authors of the Balanced Budget Act of 1997. "I ask you to search for your own individual gifts and make a better tomorrow for all Americans."

Kasich advised EXPO attendees to always think about the future. "Determine what type of changes in health care are needed and with your knowledge of technology and government regulations I challenge you to make affordable health care accessible to all," said Kasich.

HIGPA's annual International EXPO was held this year in Palm Desert, California. Over 620 executives and senior managers from health care related companies attended this three-day educational and networking event, including leading Silver Sponsors GlaxoSmithKline and Bayer Corporation.
