    Leading Health Industry Group Purchasing EXPO To Be Held October 23-25;
    Medibuy.com, Neoforma.com and Bayer Corporation Among Event's Sponsors

    WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 12, 2000) -- Health industry executives will have the opportunity to discuss critical issues facing the non-labor side of health care at the Health Industry Group Purchasing Association's (HIGPA) annual EXPO from October 23-25, 2000 at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando, Florida, HIGPA Executive Director Robert Betz, Ph.D. announced today.

    EXPO 2000 will feature an impressive list of speakers throughout the three-day event. In addition to interactive educational sessions led by health care purchasing and supply chain experts, attendees will also have the opportunity to network at EXPO's Group Purchasing Organization Pavilions. These pavilions give health care manufacturers, distributors and other vendors unparalleled opportunities to discuss important issues one-on-one with health care group purchasing organization (GPO) executives.

    Program topics during the educational sessions will include: the new rules of business in the year 2000; the Internet transformation of health care; market dynamics and sales techniques; global health care technology assessment trends; developments in the alternate site market; and pending regulatory or legislative action, such as a Medicare prescription drug benefit. Additionally HIGPA is planning a special session that will examine how other American industries have harnessed the power of e-commerce. HIGPA expects this year's program to rival EXPO 1999, which attracted over 600 health care executives.
