HIGPA 2006 International EXPO was "Ahead of the Curve"

Nearly 600 members of the healthcare supply chain gathered together for the Health Industry Group Purchasing Association (HIGPA) 2006 International EXPO, October 16-18 at the Ritz-Carlton & JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes.

Leading executives of various Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs) showed their commitment to HIGPA’s EXPO as a preeminent industry event. This year’s EXPO attracted the highest number of GPO executives in HIGPA’s history. Overall, 31% of attendees represented various Group Purchasing Organizations and Integrated Delivery Networks, while 68% represented Manufacturers, Wholesalers and Distributors.

Among some of the meetings highlights were:

• The official establishment of the Healthcare Industry Supply Chain Institute. Working in close collaboration with HIGPA, the Institute’s sole purpose is to find ways to increase efficiencies in the delivery of goods, products and services to the healthcare provider and end-user consumer.
• Top-notch general session keynote speakers, including former Notre Dame football coach Lou Holtz, inspirational speaker Kim Fellwock, Director of CMS’ Office of Policy Carol Kelly and Dr. Lawton Burns.
• Three full days of networking opportunities and educational programming which brought together all the key players in the healthcare supply chain.
